Three weeks ago today I had my left hip joint replaced.The day after surgery I was lying in
bed feeling sorry for myself what with all the hurting, tubes, oxygen, catheter
and all the paraphernalia associated with major surgery.Suddenly I had the image of the "I Can"
coin on my desk at home that my wife had given me for Christmas.I thought d%$## right I can.I started doing the bed exercises
recommended for recovery several times per day.I was dismissed and less than a week later I stopped using
my walker and got around with a cane.A week ago Sunday I stopped taking the narcotic pain pills and have only
taken a couple of Tylenols for pain since.I continue to exercise and go walking outside.Two days ago I was using power tools in
my basement work shop.This
morning I fixed breakfast for my wife and I and didn't touch the cane as I
moved around the kitchen.
As I write this I can see the "I Can" coin gleaming on my
desk and my answer is YES I CAN!
